Reverse Image Misuse
Description
Fake AI and reverse photo misuse refer to situations where images (often personal or private) are manipulated or used without consent through advanced AI technologies, like deepfake tools, or tracked using reverse image search engines. These misuses can lead to privacy violations, identity theft, defamation, and other harmful consequences. AI can generate hyper-realistic fake images or videos, while reverse image search can help bad actors trace the original source or reuse the content inappropriately.
Example
A person’s professional headshot is taken from their LinkedIn profile and used to generate a deepfake video where they appear to endorse a scam cryptocurrency platform. The video is circulated online, damaging their reputation.
